A TRUSTED COMMUNITY OF PEERS

A specially curated and hand-selected group of Seconds-In-Command based on the growth stage of your company. Tap into the experience, knowledge and best practices of true peers. The role of the Second-In-Command can be challenging, misunderstood, and isolating – this is a community just for you. Each cohort is limited to a maximum of 12 members from locations across the United States.
No overlapping industries/verticals are permitted in a cohort.

BEST PRACTICES, TRAINING, & TOOLS

Pulling from the Second First coaching framework, your cohort will have topics of focus each meeting in a workshop format, providing tools to immediately take back and implement in your business.

SOLVE REAL BUSINESS PROBLEMS

We are smarter and faster together than as individuals. Together, your cohort will engage in roundtable discussions and pick a project quarterly that solves a business problem the group is experiencing. Examples of projects include: Employee retention and engagement, AI use cases and security concerns, effective KPIs and accountability, and creating scalable processes.
Members can expect about 3-5 hours of prework prior to each meeting.

BUSINESS DEEP DIVES & BENCHMARKING

While members come from different industries, we confidentially look at various key financial and operational metrics. Our goal is to constantly be increasing efficiency & productivity, growing revenue and most importantly, growing EBITDA.

ACCESS TO THE MEMBERSHIP PORTAL

Have year-round access to your peer community, files, tools, and more through the Exchange membership portal.

YOUR

HOST

Hi, I'm Megan - I've been in your shoes.

I was a COO/Second-In-Command for an entrepreneur of a $10 million IT company. Even with an MBA and CPA, I spent ten years figuring it out on my own.

I was an obsessive consumer of books & podcasts, and wore out my Harvard Business Review subscription. Through trial & error and a lot of long hours, I built an amazing partnership with my founder and teams while moving the business forward.

While I won some professional awards (40 Under 40, Stevie Woman of the Year, Nashville Emerging Leader…) I still felt incredibly isolated in my role, and learned I wasn't alone.

In speaking with other CEOs and entrepreneurs, it was evident that they did not feel like they had a “Megan”. The Second-In-Command seat was left empty, filled by the wrong person, or a had become a revolving door of different leaders. Talking to my COO peers, many struggled to understand their CEO, or felt stagnant in their professional growth. Everyone was left frustrated and burnt out.

It's why I started Second First, a coaching and consulting firm specializing in the Second-In-Command of founder-led companies – to transform the relationships between entrepreneurs and you, the #2 leaders in their companies.

My passion now lies in providing tools, resources, and community to Seconds-In-Command. Join Exchange and I promise you'll walk away feeling less alone, more confident, and ready to tackle the Second-In-Command role with a toolbox full of new strategies.

Who Is This For?

ANSWERS TO

YOUR QUESTIONS

This is an in person meeting. Face-to-face, you will be able to get to know and trust your fellow Second-In-Command peers.

We ask a high level of openness and vulnerability in our Exchange meetings. Being in person and away from the distractions of home and office allows us to dive deep. We accomplish more in these 1.5 days than we would be able to during virtual sessions.

We understand it's difficult to take time away from work and family. Seconds-In-Command have a long-standing habit of not investing in themselves – consider this an investment in your business, and yourself as a professional.

After purchasing your attendance reservation, we will contact you to ensure that the program is a fit for you. Each attendee must be a Second-In-Command for a founder or entrepreneur. While we don't have any job title requirements, most attendees are C-Suite, VP, or Director level. If your company runs on EOS, you will be the “Integrator”.

If for any reason we determine it is not a fit for you to join an Exchange group, you will receive a full refund.

The fee for our September 2024 Exchange meeting is $3,400. This includes:

  • 2 nights at a luxury hotel (check-in Monday 9/16, check-out Wednesday 9/18)
  • 1.5 days of peer group meetings and training content in a natural-light-filled meeting room
  • Hot breakfast Tuesday & Wednesday, lunch Tuesday, and a group dining experience at a nearby restaurant in the electric downtown Nashville.
  • Second First printed workbooks & additional value-add surprises for attendees

You will only be responsible for travel to the hotel in Nashville, TN.

Investing in a Second-In-Command is one of the highest ROI's a CEO will receive. Founder & owner Megan Long has crafted a letter for you to use in an expense approval process.

The quantity of members for each group depends on the quality of applicants, however the maximum number of seats per group is set at 12.

We highly encourage you to stay at the hotel, even if you're local to Nashville. There are several reasons for this:

  1. Nashville traffic is extremely unpredictable, and we'd hate for you to miss or be late to any part of the meetings.
  2. Some of the best knowledge-sharing happens during informal conversations. Hanging out with your peers before sessions, after dinner, etc. will result in strengthened friendships and excellent value (“Hey, what are you guys doing about…”)
  3. Commuting will not result in a reduced fee. Our travel and planning partners have created an all-inclusive experience that cannot be broken apart a la carte (similar to if you decided not to each lunch, you would not be able to deduct that from your attendance fee).
